As CrossFit coaches, these are the six most common questions and concerns people have:

How often should I be coming to class?

As a School of Fitness, we promote holistic learning so you may incorporate at home what you learn from us, when you can not attend a class.  We strongly urge  you to plan to work out at least 4 days per week (in some combination of classes and active recovery).

I don’t want to get bulky.

CrossFit for weight loss encompasses a workout regime with many different exercises with as many reps and/or rounds as possible in the allotted time.  Throughout the WOD (Workout of the Day), your heart rate increases due to the duration and intensity.  CrossFit alone will not make women big or bulky, mainly due to lower testosterone levels.  The lean and defined look, the one most women desire, comes over time as a result of increasing muscle mass and decreasing body fat.

How long does it take for me to see the results I want?

If you’re consistently working out, you will start seeing real results in just a couple of weeks.  Within a few short months of joining CrossFit Echelon, you’ll see a huge positive difference in your body, energy and attitude towards your health and fitness.

Where should I be expecting to see the results?

It is not uncommon for people to lose 20-30 pounds. In fact, we have had several members lose more than 50 pounds by following the CrossFit prescription to weight loss.  Better yet, the bread and butter of CrossFit allows you to regain areas of your fitness that you may have been missing for years or never had at all.

By regularly participating in our CrossFit program (2-3 times per week), you’ll gain:

  • cardiovascular and respiratory endurance
  • greater stamina
  • overall increase in strength
  • improved flexibility
  • better agility and balance
  • enhanced coordination and accuracy

What should I be eating?

We believe that you can never out train a poor diet.  So, we would like to see our athletes match their effort in the kitchen the same way they show in the gym.  Our preferred nutrition program consists mainly of meats, vegetables, some fruits, nuts and seeds, with little to no starch and sugar.  This nutrition program is also known as Paleo (short for Paleolithic).  While there are many diets to choose from, we wholeheartedly believe that a Paleo lifetsyle will allow you to live within these boundaries and be fully sustained for the rest of your life.
